How it works
Our Process
We provide orthoses/braces from head to toe; baby helmets to foot orthotics and everything in between!
Every person we see is assessed and cared for as an individual. Best practices guide us to provide a consistent yet flexible plan that in general follows these steps:
Step 1
See your family doctor for a diagnosis of your problem (for example, foot drop due to a stroke). The doctor would then write a prescription for you with a diagnosis (for example, Dx - Stroke, foot drop, Tx - AFO)
Step 2
Book an appointment with us for an assessment.
Step 3
When you come in for the assessment, we will:
- take a detailed medical history
- perform a physical examination of the body part(s)
- perform a biomechanical assessment
- for leg or foot concerns, perform a gait analysis (how you walk)
- explain to you about your treatment options
Step 4
If you choose to proceed, we will:
- talk to you about your treatment
- take a shape capture/impression and measurements
- custom make your treatment at our office (this usually takes about 2 weeks)
- have you return for the fitting and re-evaluation
- fine tune to ensure comfort and function
- review how to put on and take off the orthosis
- provide information about care and use
- schedule a follow up
- perform any necessary follow ups and adjustments
- complete all paperwork (for example for funding forms for the Ministry of Health Assistive Devices Program - ADP)
