About Custom Orthotic Design Group Ltd. (CODG)

Custom Orthotic Design Group Ltd. (CODG) opened in 1996 with the goal of helping people to function at their personal best.  We believe that when people have pain, weakness, or other challenges, mobility is impaired. Our purpose is to facilitate more efficient movement by reducing pain, supporting or correcting areas of the body to help you participate in life the way that you want to.  Orthoses, orthotics, bracing and splinting may be an option for you; we can help you find the way.

Everyone has a personal best;
Let us help you find yours!

Our Certified Orthotists and Registered Orthotic Technicians are credentialed by Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC) that sets the standard of practice in Canada. To become Certified a person must complete an undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering, a two year post graduate program in orthotics and prosthetics and then a two year Residency before writing board exams.

Being our best helps you be your best!

How We Work

Individual
Prescription

Based on your diagnosis and goals we will find the best plan of action for you. Customized for your needs.

Individual
History

We want to make sure we have all the details about you. For example: past injuries, past surgeries, what activities you do, employment, and medical history.

Physical
Assessment

You will receive a physical assessment, where we will inspect, check range of motion, strength, sensation and complete other tests to help us understand what is happening with your body that leads to your complaint.  The information that we gather helps us to design a treatment plan that meets your needs.

Gait analysis & biomechanical assessment

If you are seeing us for something to do with your legs/hips or back, we perform a gait analysis and biomechanical assessment to aid in developing our treatment plan.  This really means we watch how you walk and what forces and movement occur when you are walking.

Technical work

Build &
Fabrication

We are here with you every step of the way. Our OPC Registered Orthotic Technicians make your brace or orthosis in our lab based on the design that the Certified Orthotist determines during the assessment.

Delivery of your orthotic treatment

Orthoses and braces are meant to support, align, correct or prevent deformity, and improve the function of a body part. Our treatment plan will be customized for your needs.

At the delivery, we try on the brace and make sure that it fits properly, is comfortable and does what it is supposed to do.  The delivery appointment sometimes takes a while as we fine tune the brace for you.

Lower leg assessment for AFO (leg brace)

Re-evaluation

Once you receive your custom orthosis, you will be re-evaluated in 2 week’s time. We want to make sure that it is comfortable and is doing what it is supposed to do.  Often we make minor adjustments to optimize the fit and function.

Regular follow-ups

Our team of kind, experienced professionals are here for you when you need us most. No need to worry.

Whenever you have changes, book back in to see us so that we can make sure that everything is fitting and working as it should.

Supportive holding hands

Constant Support

We aim to provide great customer service. You have our full support, no matter what the problem – we want to see you again.

Client Feedback

"I just wanted to let you know - for the first time in months and months - I am able to go for a long, long walk - because my feet are not killing me anymore!!! I am not limping at work anymore either!!! Thanks so much - I feel great! Even walking 8 blocks back to the car after the last appointment with them in my shoes - I could have done a tap dance all the way - the change was so drastic!"
